Who are we?
THE SPIRITUALIST BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION - short: THE SPIRITUALISTS - are a dedicated investigative unit specialising in spirit phenomena, spectral theory, and applied fieldwork in the paranormal sciences. Founded in 1995 by Aubrey de Vere in Brixton, London, the team has since grown into one of the most widely recognised names in contemporary Spiritology.
In 1997, the team's successful investigation of the haunted Oswald Estate in Brittany, France, led to nationwide - and even international - attention and thus a major shift in public discourse. Their work was featured prominently (among others) in The Beacon, The Guardian, and Channel 4's Unexplained Britain.
Since then, THE SPIRITUALISTS have been regarded as pioneers in the field: bridging the space between theory and action, belief and data, haunting and healing. Their work continues to challenge assumptions, investigate the unknown, and bring rigour and respect to phenomena too often dismissed.
Important note: THE SPIRITUALISTS neither chose nor endorsed the headline "GHOSTS ARE REAL". (Yes, that was us.)

Our Mission:
To investigate, document, and - when possible - understand manifestations of spiritual phenomena through both empirical observation and in-depth research. We seek not only to understand spirits, but to face them. Our work takes us into homes, fields, factories, churches... anywhere a presence has begun to disturb the living.
Our aim is resolution: to help those affected ("huntees"), and, where possible, the spirits themselves. We believe, as the famous Rev. Alpheus Penn once wrote, that it is "our duty, not to fear them, but to guide them back to rest".
Our work is not some form of entertainment. We respect our clients' queries and treat them confidentially.

Note: Due to the volume of messages post-Oswald, responses may be delayed. We try to respond promptly. Fees are discussed individually and depend on the complexity, severity, and location of the haunting.

Why This Website?
Kit (that's me!) is building this site to make our findings accessible and to meet like-minded individuals across the globe. Times are changing. The field is growing. We've received letters from the US, Canada, Iceland, Germany, even India - people sharing cases, methods, questions, and their experiences with spirits. Spiritology is not a closed system; this is only the beginning.
Yes, this site is still a work in progress. No, I don't know how to center things in CSS yet. Please be kind.
